Freetown. A sports betting company, betPawa, has expanded its business scope by opening a branch in Sierra Leone.

The company's launching ceremony took place at Lor Restaurant in Freetown on March 6, 2024, and was attended by various stakeholders in the betting sports industry, including journalists.
Speakers at the event included the Managing Director of the Mchezo Company (which owns betPawa) Ntoudi Mouyelo, betPawa Chief Brand Officer Spencer Okach, and Sierra Leone Franchise Owner Thomas Nsongka of LionBets & Fastwins Ltd.
In addition to expressing their excitement about being welcomed to Sierra Leone, the officials discussed betPawa's goals in the sports betting industry in the country.
Mouyelo, said they were delighted to be allowed to enter Sierra Leone and to receive a warm reception.
"Our main goal is to make betting more entertaining and friendly, and our customers can expect great opportunities to do business with us in all areas, including casinos, as in other 11 African countries," said Mouyelo.
For his part, Youth Affairs minister Mohamed Bangura said, "Sierra Leone warmly welcomes betPawa, and we are looking forward to collaborating with a law-abiding and responsible sports brand that will not only support economic growth, but also will contribute to sports development in the country."
Bangura added, "The presence of betPawa in Sierra Leone aligns with our government's commitment to job creation. We expect this partnership to significantly contribute to our goal of creating 100,000 jobs."
He said betPawa has demonstrated its social responsibility across Africa through various initiatives, including sports development, sponsorship, and healthcare.
He said that by entering the Sierra Leone market, betPawa will continue to contribute to national income and the growth of various sectors.
For his part, Nsongka said the betPawa brand is customer-friendly, and they believe they will achieve their goals.
