Dar es Salaam. Simba's first-choice goalkeeper, Aishi Manula, will not feature in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal match against Egypt's Al Ahly on Friday, March 29, 2024, due to injury.

The Simba-Al Ahly match is scheduled to take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium starting from 9 pm East Africa time. Ayoub Lakred will be in goal for Simba in the encounter.

Manula sustained his injury during the match between Taifa Stars and Bulgaria in Baku, Azerbaijan, held on March 22, 2024.

The special international friendly match was organized by FIFA and dubbed the FIFA Series.

Manula had to be substituted in the 30th minute due to injury, with Kwesi Kawawa taking his place for the remaining 60 minutes of the game. Taifa Stars lost 1-0.

Taifa Stars interim head coach, Hemed "Morocco" Suleiman, confirmed that Manula did not travel with other Simba players who departed for Tanzania ahead of the match.

Morocco stated that Manula is undergoing medical treatment in Azerbaijan. Other Simba players who returned to Tanzania to join their club are Kennedy Juma, Mohamed Hussein, and Kibu Dennis.

"Manula did not travel to Tanzania with other Simba players due to injury. He has to continue with medical treatment here," said Morocco over the telephone.
