Bluefins set to make splash with 24 swimmers at national event

Dar es Salaam. Prominent Dar es Salaam-based swimming club, Bluefins, is gearing up to make a strong impression at the Tanzania National Open Swimming Championships 2025.
The competition is scheduled to be held at the International School of Tanganyika (IST) swimming pool in Masaki, and the club will be represented by a talented squad of 24 swimmers.
The club’s founder and head trainer, Rahim Alidina, confirmed that the squad consists of 17 boys and seven girls, all of whom have met the required qualifying times for the national event.
Alidina named the girls competing as Sakina Abdulali, Ayreen Lakhani, Zahra Alibhai, Maahira Noorani, Amatullah Mustansir, Inaya, and Irhaa Raheel. The boys’ team includes Burhanuddin Mustansir, Adam Hassanali, Cayden Barretto, Hassan Harunani, Burhanuddin Abdulkadir, Kaysan Kachra, Qais Kanji, Kabeer Lakhani, Sahal Harunani, Burhanuddin Hatim, Ridhaa Sheriff, Is-Haq Suleiman, Rayyan Kassam, Burhanuddin Huzeifa, Idris Zavery, Shuneal Bharwani, and Uzair Harunani.
“All our swimmers have been training intensively under our panel of experienced coaches, and we are confident they will deliver strong performances,” Alidina said. “We are participating across all age categories and in every event, including Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Butterfly, and both individual and team relays.”
He added that the championship is expected to be highly competitive this year, providing an excellent platform for swimmers to test their skills against the nation’s best.
“This event is a great opportunity for our swimmers to challenge themselves, improve their personal bests, and gain valuable experience on a national stage,” Alidina said.
Bluefins is widely recognized in Dar es Salaam for its dedication to competitive swimming and athlete development. The club offers an ideal environment for both children and adults, with a fully equipped swimming pool that allows athletes to train consistently and effectively.
