Chama, Aziz Ki, Dube to test their skills against Bundesliga side in South Africa

What you need to know:

  • This tournament will provide Yanga with an opportunity to test their mettle against international competition, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Dar es Salaam. The Mainland Tanzania champions, Young Africans (Yanga), have signed new players Clatous Chama, Prince Dube, and Jean Baleke, who will make their debut for the club against Bundesliga side Augsburg in South Africa.

The match is scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga province at 4pm Tanzania time.

The fixture shows that after the match, TS Galaxy FC, also known as The Rockets, will face Eswatini league champions Mbabane Swallows FC at 9pm Tanzania time.

The matches will be televised live by the South African Broadcasting Corporation, which has signed an agreement with TS Galaxy FC.

Apart from Chama, Dube, and Baleke, Yanga’s list of new players includes goalkeeper Khomeini Abubakar, Aziz Andambwile from Fountain Gate FC, left-back Shadrack Boka from FC Lupopo of the DR Congo, and Dube Abuya from Singida Back Stars.

The players join others, including notable ones such as Stephane Aziz Ki, Pacome Zouzoua, Djigui Diara, Kennedy Musonda, Kouassi Attohoula Yao, Khalid Aucho, Bakari Mwamnyeto, Dickson Job, Ibrahim Hamad, Mudathir Yahya, and Clement Mzize.

Also on the list are Farid Mussa, Salum “Sure Boy” Abubakar, Jonas Mkude, Kibwana Shomari, Shekhan Ibrahim Hamis, Aboutwalib Mshery, and Dennis Nkane.

This tournament will provide Young Africans with an opportunity to test their mettle against international competition, ensuring they are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

FC Augsburg will be making history by holding their first-ever summer training camp outside of Europe. They’ll be in South Africa from July 18th to 28th.

After the Mpumalanga Premier International Cup, Yanga will shift their focus to the Toyota Cup, where they will go head-to-head with their hosts, Kaizer Chiefs.

The matches could mark a nostalgic return for Yanga's attacking midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki, whose goal was disallowed against Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League quarterfinal match last season.

The incident occurred on April 5, 2024, during a tense match at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria.

Aziz Ki has since attracted the attention of many teams on the continent, especially South African and Northern African teams.

Yanga players are now in an intensive training camp and will leave the country for South Africa before the match date.
