It is probably not the Christmas present that Yanga fans were hoping for and most will be heart-broken after it emerged that that their utility midfielder Faisal Salum aka Fei Toto has reportedly switched allegiance and signed for rivals Azam FC.

Neither the player nor the two clubs have issued any formal statements regarding the departure or acquisition of the player.

However, sources privy to the player say the box to box mid-fielder has moved to Azam as a free agent after buying out his contract at Yanga at a fee reported to be around Sh100 million.

The Sh100 million was reportedly his signing fee and a clause in his contract provided that he pays the signing on fee plus three months salary.

In the meantime according to local sports daily, Mwanaspoti,  it has emerged that the ice cream makers Azam FC have paid  Faisal Salum Sh390 million as a signing on fee plus a monthly salary of Sh 17 million.

The switch will come as a coup  in the face of a pending derby between Yanga and Azam that is set to be played on Christmas day at the Mkapa Stadium.

Fei Toto’s surging runs from mid-field had in the past rescued Yanga with some last minute goals from ouside the box scoring six goals in the league for the Jangwani side this season.
