Dar es Salaam. Five Tanzanian lady golfers have set their sights on success as they begin their campaign at the KLGU Open Meeting 2026, taking place at the prestigious Royal Nairobi Golf Club today, April 10,2025.

The golfers are Madina Idd, Racheal Mushi, Neema Olomi, Aalaa Somji and Loveness Frank. They are among 93 players confirmed for the 54-hole medal format tournament, which attracts some of the finest amateur golfers from across the region.

The competition is recognised as both a Golfer of the Year (GOTY) and World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event, making it a crucial stop for players aiming to improve their standings and gain international exposure.

The KLGU Open is widely regarded as one of the most important fixtures on the regional golfing calendar, offering players a chance to compete at a high level while testing their consistency, skill and mental strength over three demanding rounds.

For the Tanzanian golfers, the tournament presents a valuable opportunity to measure their progress against top amateur talent from Africa, particularly from Kenya, which is known for producing strong golf competitors. It also serves as a platform to enhance their profiles on the international stage through WAGR points.

Speaking ahead of the event, Madina Idd expressed confidence, saying she has been putting in extra work in recent weeks. She highlighted improvements in her accuracy and course management as key areas she hopes will give her an edge in the competition.

The Royal Nairobi Golf Club, one of Kenya’s premier golf venues, is expected to provide a stern test for all participants. Its well-maintained fairways, tricky greens and strategic layout demand precision and patience, making it a true test of a golfer’s all-round ability.

As the competition tees off, all eyes will be on how the Tanzanian players perform against a strong and competitive field. Their participation also reflects the growing presence of Tanzanian golfers on the regional stage and the country’s continued investment in developing talent capable of competing at higher levels.
