Dar es Salaam. Young Africans (Yanga) head coach Miguel Gamondi has said that his main goal is to win the CAF Champions League title.

Yanga will be in action tomorrow as they face the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) in the second leg of the second preliminary round of the competition. The match will take place at the New Amaan Complex at 8:30pm East African Time.

Gamondi expressed confidence in his squad, noting that Yanga have the quality players needed to make the country proud and achieve success in the CAF Champions League.

"I have over 25 years of experience working in Africa, and my aim is to win the African title. I believe I can do that with Yanga. Why not?" said Gamondi. He recalled last season’s challenges, where Yanga faced Mamelodi Sundowns without three key players—Pacome Zouzoua, Khalid Aucho, and Kouassi Attohoula Yao.

"This time, it’s different. We have strengthened the squad with the best players," said Gamondi. He stressed that he is a results-oriented coach, with goals similar to those of other coaches across the continent and beyond.

"Yanga have even more quality players compared to last season. We have recruited talented individuals to ensure we perform at our best. I trust my players can make the country proud," he said.

Gamondi accredited the challenges ahead but stressed that with the commitment and dedication of the players, team management, members, and fans, the target is within reach. "The club's management, particularly our fans, played a crucial role in last season’s group stage and knockout rounds.

We learned a lot from that experience. We competed face-to-face with some of Africa's top teams—Al Ahly, CR Belouizdad, and Mamelodi Sundowns.

It was an invaluable experience," he said. He added that Yanga now realize they are on par with these top teams and can compete at the highest level. "Our goal is to perform at the highest level in Africa, and we’ve done that. Now, it's more important than ever to believe in ourselves.

We are determined to improve our performance, but we'll take it step by step," he said. The coach also stressed that Yanga are hungry for more success.

"We want to succeed and are confident in what we can achieve. It’s our philosophy to aim for the top and go as far as possible. To do that, we must be united—fans, management, technical staff, and players—as one team," he said.
