President Samia ups goal bonus to Sh20 million

What you need to know:

  • Yanga collected Sh40 million bonus in the two played semifinal matches against Marumo Gallants of South Africa from the presidential package after netting four goals with each semifinal goal valued at Sh10 million.

Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has doubled her motivation package to Sh20 million for each goal that Young Africans (Yanga) will score in CAF Confederation Cup finals.

Samia has also revealed that government will provide a flight for Yanga and supporters who will travel to cheer the team in their second-leg final match versus USM Alger in Algeria.

The news comes a day after Yanga beat South Africa’s Marumo Gallants 2-1 to secure a place in a historic CAF Confederation Cup which has eluded Tanzania’s clubs for three decades.

Yanga collected Sh40 million bonus in the two played semifinal matches against Marumo Gallants of South Africa from the presidential package after netting four goals with each semifinal goal valued at Sh10 million.

Yanga has since earned Sh100 million in goal bonuses from the presidency.

Yanga will play the first of the two-leg finals on May 28 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam before travelling to Algiers for the final game of the competition.

Prior to Yanga’s historic exploits, only three teams in East Africa had reached the continental Cup finals, the teams are Gor Mahia (1), Sports Club Villa (2) in 1991 & 1992 and Simba SC in 1993
