Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s U-17 national football team (Serengeti Boys) are set for a challenging campaign in the CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 30 to April 19.

Placed in Group A, Tanzania will face Zambia, hosts Morocco, and Uganda in the group stage.

Group B consists of Cameroon, Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Egypt.

Meanwhile, Group C features Senegal, Gambia, Somalia, and Tunisia, while Group D includes Mali, Angola, Ivory Coast, and the Central African Republic.

 Tanzania’s Group stage fixtures

According to the tournament schedule, Tanzania will begin their campaign on March 31 against Zambia at 5pm East African Time at Bashir Mohammed Stadium in Mohammedia.

Their second match will take place on April 3 at 8pm against Uganda at the same venue, followed by their final group-stage game against host nation Morocco on April 6, also at Bashir Mohammed Stadium from 11pm. The three matches are crucial for Tanzania’s hopes of progressing to the next stage of the competition.

 Tough opponents await

Tanzania will face stiff competition in Group A. Zambia, known for their aggressive and technical style of play, will be a major challenge in the opener.

However, Tanzania’s young talents are expected to bring energy and determination to the match.

With regional pride at stake, the clash against Uganda promises to be an intense and fiercely contested battle.

Uganda has performed well in recent youth competitions, but Tanzania will be eager to prove themselves on the continental stage. Facing Morocco will be a daunting task, as the hosts will enjoy the advantage of home support.

However, this match also presents an opportunity for Tanzania’s players to showcase their talent against one of Africa’s strongest teams.

 Path to the knockout rounds

To advance to the quarterfinals, Tanzania must finish in the top two of Group A or secure one of the best third-place spots.

The quarterfinals begin on April 10, followed by the semifinals and the final, scheduled for April 19.
