Simba aim to leapfrog Singida in key clash against Mashujaa

Dar es Salaam. One of Tanzania's football giants, Simba SC, target to leapfrog Singida Black Stars into second place if they win today over Mashujaa FC in the ongoing Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

The highly anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 4.pm at the Lake Tanganyika Stadium in Kigoma Region.

According to the league standings, Simba are currently placed third with 19 points from eight matches, while Singida Black Stars sit second e with 22 points from nine matches.

The league defending champions, Young Africans (Yanga), are at the top with 24 points after winning all their eight games they have played so far.

Arithmetically, victory for Simba will allow them to collect 22 points and surpass Singida Black Stars on goal difference.

Currently, the Singida-based team have a nine-goal difference, while Simba boasts a 13-goal difference.

Speaking ahead of the match, Simba head coach Fadlu Davids, explained that the upcoming game will not be easy, as both teams will be targeting victory to improve their standings in the league.

“It is going to be a tough match as I know Mashujaa FC are one of the stronger teams in the league. However, we have prepared well, and I believe we will do our best,” said Fadlu.

For his part, Mashujaa FC head coach Abdallah “Bares” Mohamed, expressed optimism about delivering a positive result in the encounter.

“My players are committed, and I am sure they will not let us down. We want to improve our chance in the league standings, and the only way to do that is to secure the best result,” said Bares.

The Kigoma-based team currently sit sixth with 13 points from the eight matches they have played so far. Victory will help them to narrow the point gap with the fifth-placed team, Fountain Gate FC, who have collected 17 points from 10 matches.
