Simba look to dislodge Yanga from top spot as they face KMC

Dar es Salaam. After hard fight to win 1-0 over Mashujaa FC of Kigoma, football giants, Simba SC, today face another tough test of Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) in the Tanzania Mainland Premier league.

The Simba-KMC match has been scheduled to take place at the KMC Complex, starting at 4pm.

In their previous game, Simba had to wait till the last injury time (90+7) to score the winning goal and record important three points at the Lake Tanganyika Stadium against Mashujaa FC in the ongoing league.

Simba’s goal was scored by Ugandan striker Steven Mukwala after utilizing well a corner kick from Awesu Awesu to bring celebration for the Msimbazi Street giants.

KMC also recorded a 1-0 victory over Namungo FC through Rashid Chambo.

As per the league standings, Simba are third with 22 points from nine matches and the win will make them lead the league with one point.

Yanga are at the top with 24 points from nine matches. KMC are sixth with 14 points from 10 matches and victory will make them collect 17 points. KMC will be seeking the first win since they were promoted to the league.

Records show that in the past 12 matches, KMC managed to record only one draw and the rest were lost.

The team recorded a 2-2 draw in their first leg last season on December 23, 2023 at the Azam Complex.

Speaking ahead of the match, Simba head coach Fadlu Davids explained that the game is not going to be easy, as both teams will be targeting victory to improve their standings in the league.

“It is going to be a tough match as I know KMC are one of the strong teams in the league. However, we have prepared well, and I believe we will do our best,” said Fadlu.

For his part, KMC head coach Abdihamid Moallin expressed optimism about delivering a positive result in the match.

“My players are committed, and I am sure they will not let us down. We want to improve our chance in the league standings, and the only way to do that is to secure the best result,” said Molallin.

He added that they need to play with determination in the encounter in order to win and his players are in high spirits.
