Tanzania swimmer Michael granted scholarship by World Aquatics

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s swimming sensation Michael Joseph has been awarded a year-long training scholarship from World Aquatics (WA), formerly known as FINA.
Michael, who is from Taliss-IST, is among the top swimmers in the country.
He has participated in both local championships and represented Tanzania in international competitions.
He will join the WA training center known as Cercle des Nageurs d'Antibes (CN Antibes).
The swimmer departs for France today, January 17, 2025, aboard KLM, according to his mother, Monica Joseph.
Michael expressed confidence that he would return as a better swimmer. “I am delighted to have this opportunity. I hope that I will come back a better swimmer,” said Michael.
Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) Secretary Inviolata Itatiro and Chairperson David Mwasyoge jointly congratulated the fast-rising swimmer on his achievement.
“We wish him all the best as he embarks on this journey where he will represent Tanzania. We are proud of him,” said the officials in a joint statement.
Taliss-IST coach Alexander Mwaipasi also wished Michael all the best for his achievement and urged him to work hard to improve his standards, enabling him to attain qualifying marks for international championships.
“I congratulate him on this achievement. It is an extra mile for the swimmer as well as the swimming sport in Tanzania. I hope he will use this opportunity well and make us proud when he represents the country internationally,” said Mwaipasi, who is also the national swimming team and High-Performance Training coach.
