TFF okays Jamhuri for league matches

What you need to know:

The lift of the ban means Mtibwa Sugar will host the wounded champions, Young Africans at the venue on Sunday in the Vodacom Premier League encounter.

Morogoro. The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has sanctioned the use of Morogoro’s Jamhuri Stadium after a lengthy suspension.

The lift of the ban means Mtibwa Sugar will host the wounded champions, Young Africans at the venue on Sunday in the Vodacom Premier League encounter.

Yanga, as they are well known, are smarting from a disappointing 2-1 loss to their archrivals, Simba SC at the National Stadium on Saturday.

The TFF had suspended use of Jamhuri Stadium pending major renovation besides giving room for the police to be trained on how best to keep order at the venues.

The TFF’s decision came after the league match between Mtibwa Sugar and Simba on January 18 ended in chaos. Fans invaded the pitch after the final whistle.

Yanga, who have apologised following their defeat to Simba over the weekend, will be looking to get back on the rails.

Nevertheless, they will face a stern test, for Mtibwa Sugar seem to have rediscovered their fine form.

Playing at their home ground, Mtibwa Sugar have always troubled the Jangwani Street giants, who must reconsider their scouting methods should they fail to retain the title.

Simba now look the favourites to clinch the title they have been craving for the past four seasons.
