Top East African golfers set for Sterling Ladies invitational

Dar es Salaam. The much-anticipated Sterling Ladies Invitational is set to tee off from September 12 to 14, 2025, at the prestigious Kilimanjaro Golf Estate in Tanzania.

The tournament has attracted an impressive lineup of leading female golfers from across East Africa, promising three days of intense competition, elegance, and sportsmanship.

Bringing together golfers from Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda, the invitational is poised to showcase the very best of regional talent. From seasoned champions to emerging stars, the event will highlight the growing depth and passion for women’s golf in East Africa.

Tournament coordinator Madina Idd expressed her excitement ahead of the event.

 “We are delighted to welcome golfers from across East Africa to participate in the Sterling Ladies Invitational. This event is not just about competition but also about celebrating the unity, strength, and skill of women in sport. We expect thrilling displays of golfing artistry from our participants.”

Tanzania, the host nation, will be well-represented by some of its brightest talents. Among those confirmed are Aalaa Somji, Madina Hussein, and Neema Amson Olomi from Arusha Gymkhana Club, alongside Hawa Ayub Wanyeche from Lugalo Golf Club.

Rising stars such as Loveness Mungure, Rachel Mushi, and Lucy Kimambo from Kilimanjaro Golf Estate are also expected to make their mark, leveraging home advantage. Other notable names include Linda Peter, Ndombelath Sikawtath, and Shufaa Daudi, who bring a blend of experience and youthful energy.

Kenya, long regarded as a powerhouse in East African golf, will send a formidable contingent.

Joyce Wanjiru from Kiambu Golf Club, Mercy Nyanchama from Njoro Country Club, Magreth Njoki from Golf Park, and Agnes Nyako from Kenya Railways will lead the charge.

Young talents like Bianca Ngecu and Brianna Ngecu from Muthaiga Golf Club, alongside Ashley Awour from Royal Nairobi Golf Club and Naomi Wakesho from Njoro Country Club, add depth and flair to the team.

Uganda will not be left behind, with players such as Meron Kyomugisha from Kabale Sports Club, Judith Kyomugisha from Uganda Golf Club, Gloria Nanyonga from Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, and Winnie Musuya from Lugazi Hills Golf & Country Club all set to compete. Their participation underscores Uganda’s growing footprint in regional women’s golf.

Rwanda’s representation will come through Irumva Matutina from Kigali Golf Club, bringing a fresh dimension to the competition and adding to the diversity of talent on display.
