Twiga Stars face Equatorial Guinea in Wafcon qualifier

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania's national women's senior football team, Twiga Stars, will face Equatorial Guinea today in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) qualifier.

The match is set to take place at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, kicking off at 4pm.The two teams will meet again in the return leg on February 26.

Twiga Stars head coach Bakari Shime expressed confidence in his team, stressing that the players are well-prepared and determined to secure victory for Tanzania.

“The players are ready for the match. We are facing one of the toughest teams in the competition,” said Shime.

“It’s my first time coaching against Equatorial Guinea, a team with impressive results in the qualifiers. We are not underestimating them,” he added.  

Shime stressed that the team is taking the match seriously, with victory as their primary target. 

He also called on football fans to fill the Azam Complex and support Twiga Stars.

Other key players include Suzan Adam (Tutankhamun FC, Egypt), Maimuna Kaimu (ZED FC, Egypt), Aisha Masaka (Brighton & Hove Albion, England), Oppa Clement (Juarez, Mexico), and Clara Luvanga (Al Nasr FC, Saudi Arabia). The squad is completed by Stumai Abdallah (JKT Queens), Winifrida Charles (Fountain Gate), Winifrida Gerald (JKT Queens), Asha Ramadhan (Yanga Princess), Aisha Mnunka (Simba Queens), and Jamila Rajab (JKT Queens).
