Tanzanian football giants Young Africans (Yanga) have made history by booking a spot in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League quarterfinals for the first time.

The Jangwani Street boys put on a show at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, where they demolished Algeria's CR Belouizdad 4-0.

The hosts went into the break with one goal from Mudathir Yahya and one foot into the last eight.

Other goals scored during the second half were by Stephanie Aziz Ki, Kennedy Musonda, and Joseph Guede.

In the first game, the Tanzania’s giants lost 3-0 to Algerian side.

The emphatic victory cemented their second place in Group D with eight points, a point behind group leaders and defending champions Egypt's Al Ahly with a game still left to play, meaning they could finish the group stage on top of the table if they beat Al Ahly in the second leg in Cairo on March 1.

Belouizdad is placed third with 5 points, while Ghanaian side Medeama is at the bottom with 4 points.

Other teams that have booked their spots in the quarterfinals are DR Congo's TP Mazembe, Ivory Coast's Asec Mimosa, Egypt's Al Ahly, and South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns.
