Dar es Salaam. Chairman of the Board of Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL), Leonard Mususa, has hailed President Hussein Mwinyi for making true the promises that he made when vying for the presidency during the elections.
He said many countries have had politicians make promises when asking for votes but have zero implementation after they are elected.
“The problem is in the implementation,” he said when closing the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum (MTLF) in Zanzibar on October 31, 2023.
He further noted that the reverse has been done by President Mwinyi, who has kept his promise and changed Zanzibar.
The 14th version of the MTLF was being held in Zanzibar for the first time since it was established five years ago. Jointly organised by MCL and Zanzibar Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC), the event was convened at the Golden Tulip Zanzibar Airport Hotel to mark three years in office of President Mwinyi.
Mr Mususa noted that plans to build Zanzibar’s Domino Tower will be a game-changer as far as attracting tourism from Africa and the rest of the world is concerned.
He said plans to build a bridge from Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam were a huge undertaking and, when completed, would boost the Zanzibar economy.
“Zanzibar is showing the way by walking the talk. The three-year evaluation shows that there is great progress,” he said.
