Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) has called on Businesses or Institutions that need to get tax exemption to visit the 47th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) so that they can know the procedure for the exemption.

Speaking at the exhibition which ends on July 13, TRA’s Director of the Department of Internal Affairs, Ndositwe Haonga said through the exhibition any person or institution that needs tax exemption can be served.

"They will be directed on what the requirements of the exemption are and what steps to follow until they complete," he said.

The service has been moved to the trade fair because a majority of people do not know the right channels to follow to get tax exemptions," he said.

Haonga also used the opportunity to ask taxpayers to make good use of the ethics desk to report the various challenges they encounter when receiving services so that they can be worked on.

"If there are any ethical issues you have come across, don't hesitate to report it, you can visit our desk and be instructed how to present it. TRA is serious on the matter, anyone should not hesitate to file a complaint," he said.

Regarding their presence in the International Trade Fare, he said they are ready to provide education on the importance of paying taxes while giving an example of the benefits of paying taxes including in the development of social services such as Health, Education, water, and various infrastructures.
