Diamond Platnumz praises local media, unveils strategy to take Bongo Flava to next level

What you need to know:

  • It's not that our media doesn't want to support us, but we as artists need to work hard.

Diamond Platnumz has for the first time acknowledged the support of local media as his hit single, Komasava, gains international success.

Diamond made the remarks during a video call as he was getting ready for the recent Paris Fashion Week.

"It's not that our media doesn't want to support us, but we as artists need to work hard. We may at times blame the media for posting Nigerian artists’ stuff, but this happens because the Nigerians are doing well," Diamond noted.

He went on to say that, due to the Komasava success, he has discovered an alternative way to outpace West African artists. He said their formula cannot compete with what he has decided to implement to elevate Bongo Flava to international heights.

"The West Africans can't make this music; they want to sing a lot, and music isn't about singing a lot; it requires some cleverness and tricks," he added.

With this newfound strategy, Diamond Platnumz is confident that Bongo Flava will continue to rise on the global stage, bringing Tanzanian music to new heights and showcasing its unique sound to the world.
