Rival Tanzanian Bongo Flava giants; Diamond, Alikiba, Harmonize to share the stage

What you need to know:

  • The highly anticipated new album, titled ‘Muziki wa Samia,’ is scheduled for launch today, Saturday May 25, at the Mlimani City Hall in Dar es Salaam.

Dar es Salaam. For the first time since Bongo Flava luminary Rajabu Abdul, famously known as Harmonize, parted ways with his former boss, Diamond Platnumz, and left the WCB Wasafi label in 2019, the latter is poised to attend the launch of Harmonize’s new album.

The highly anticipated new album, titled ‘Muziki wa Samia,’ is scheduled for launch today, Saturday May 25, at the Mlimani City Hall in Dar es Salaam.

The event is expected to be graced by the presence of President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Another Bongo Flava icon Alikiba, revered as one of the music’s big three alongside Diamond and Harmonize, has been officially confirmed to grace the event with his presence.

The new album represents Harmonize's fifth studio release, following his previous album 'Visit Bongo,' which debuted last year and featured 14 tracks.

He dropped his first album titled ‘Afro East’ in 2020, followed by ‘High School’ in 2021, and 'Made It For Us' in 2022.

Diamond's attendance at the launch underscores the complex relationship between him and Harmonize, marked by moments of reconciliation and conflicts.

Recently, they engaged in a heated exchange of words on social media via their Instagram accounts.

The feud erupted on April 27, 2024, following Diamond Platnumz's performance at the Posta grounds.

During his performance, Diamond took to the stage and delivered renditions of several of his songs.

Midway during the performance he paused and uttered; "Harmonize and Rayvanny will forever remain my protégés, and I will always take pride in their musical accomplishments."

Upon hearing Diamond's remarks, Harmonize expressed his displeasure, voicing his frustration with the repeated claims of having been helped.

He found these assertions tiresome and annoying, evidently indicating a sense of exasperation at what he perceived as repetitive and perhaps exaggerated statements.

Harmonize directly confronted Diamond, urging him to cease taking pride in his accomplishments, because he had already paid the money to break the contract.

Diamond opted to disengage from the confrontation, describing himself as humble and indicating his reluctance to prolong the back-and-forth exchange.

Diamond's appearance at today's concert is a clear sign that the two have squashed their beef in a major way.

It is worth noting that Harmonize was the very first artiste to be signed to the WCB Wasafi Label when it was launched in 2015.

Following his signing, other notable talents such as Rayvanny, Lava Lava, Queen Darleen, Mbosso, and Zuchu joined the roster, contributing to the label's diverse and burgeoning lineup of artists.

Also, on the list of invited artistes are Nandy, Zuchu, Aslay, Dully Sykes, Ibra, Weusi, Dogo Janja, Mrisho Mpoto, AY, Jux, Gigy Money, Man Fongo, Maua Sam, Miso Misondo, Tunda Man, and many others.

In the film industry, attendees will include Irene Uwoya, Wolper, Elizabeth Michael 'Lulu', Wema Sepetu, Hamisa Mobetto, Aunt Ezekiel, Steve Nyerere, MC Gara B, Mpoki, and many more.

Man Water, S2kizzy, Abbah, Masta J, and others are expected to represent music producers at the event.
