Tanzania secures three nominations at the 11th AMVCAs

Tanzania’s creative industry has secured three nominations at the 2025 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs), recognising outstanding achievements in television and film while highlighting the country’s growing influence in African entertainment.

Leading the Tanzanian contingent is Kefa Igilo, an alumnus of the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF), whose reality show Wa Milele has received nominations in two categories: Best Indigenous Language – East Africa and Best Unscripted Series

Joining him is renowned filmmaker Amil Shivji, whose film The Empty Grave has been nominated in the Best Indigenous Language – East Africa category.

Shivji, celebrated for his thought-provoking storytelling, has played a pivotal role in elevating Tanzanian cinema to the global stage.

These nominations highlights Tanzanian filmmakers' growing impact in shaping narratives that resonate across the continent.
