Massive win for NMG journalists at EA Media Awards

Kampala. Journalists from National Media Group (NMG) dominated this year’s East African Community (EAC) Media Awards, beating other media houses in the region to win the prestigious competition.

NMG scooped most of the awards through its popular titles — The EastAfricanDaily Nation,  The Daily MonitorThe Citizen and NTV — to prove its leading role in professionalism and ethics in journalism in the region.

For the second year running, The Citizen Bureau Chief in Arusha Zephania Ubwani won a top award in the media contest organised by the EAC and the East African Business Council.

Mr Ubwani emerged the first in the Higher Education Reporting Award ahead of two other contestants from Burundi and Rwanda during the prize-giving ceremony at a Kampala hotel on Thursday evening.

Eleven other journalists from all the five EAC partner states — Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Burundi and Rwanda — were feted and took home certificates, plaques, iPads as well as cash prizes.
