Bagamoyo. Four people have been confirmed dead and 20 others injured following a tragic road accident involving a lorry and a coaster bus at Msolwa Chalinze, Bagamoyo District, in the Coast Region on January 25, 2025.

The Chalinze District Chief Medical Officer, Allen Mlekwa, confirmed to this paper that the accident occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m.

He revealed that the coaster bus, which was transporting a body from Dar es Salaam to Bukoba in the Kagera Region, collided with a lorry, leading to the fatalities.

“The deceased include three men and one woman. A total of 20 people were injured, and 15 of them have been referred to Tumbi Hospital in Kibaha for further treatment,” Dr Mlekwa stated.

In addition, he confirmed that five bodies, including the one being transported to Kagera, have been preserved at a local facility, while the injured are receiving treatment at Msoga Hospital in Bagamoyo District.

This incident marks the second major road accident involving a coaster bus in less than a month. Earlier in January, another coaster bus was involved in a deadly crash at Mazizi, also within Bagamoyo District, which claimed one life and left several others injured.

Efforts to reach the Police Commander for further details regarding the accident are ongoing, with repeated attempts to contact the officer by phone remaining unanswered.
