Govt constructs 10,000 houses for police officers

The government is constructing 10,000 new houses to accommodate families of police officers across the country.

He said among others, 40 apartments with capacity to accommodate at least 320 families have been built in the first phase.

He made the remarks when responding to a question by Mr Mattar Salum (Shaurimoyo-CCM) who wanted to know the government strategies to address challenge of shortage of accommodation facing police personnel in the country.

Mr Salum also wanted to know how many houses the state is plan to construct in Zanzibar.

In his answer, Mr Masauni said the ongoing project has started in areas with high demand.

"The aim is to assure all police officers resides in better houses. We know in most regions police officers and their families face accommodation shortage," he said.
