Dar es Salaam. CRDB Bank Chief Executive Officer Abdulmajid Nsekela has said the recent system upgrades were aimed at laying the foundation for the bank’s international expansion.

He noted that the improvements spanned all countries where CRDB operates; Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and disclosed that the bank has also secured a licence to open an office in Dubai.

Mr Nsekela made the revelation on Friday, September 12, 2025, during a tour of Dar es Salaam branches to engage with customers, just days after the bank completed a major upgrade of its core banking system.

At the CRDB TPA branch located at the Port building in Dar es Salaam, he also met branch managers from the Dar es Salaam and Coast zones, addressed the media, and interacted with customers receiving services.

“The transformation also lays the foundation for the bank’s international expansion, as CRDB Bank recently obtained a licence to open an office in Dubai,” he said.

Mr Nsekela thanked customers for their patience during the transition period and assured them that services had steadily improved since the launch of the new system.

“From September 8, 2025, we migrated to the new core banking system. Given the scale of the changes, some customers experienced challenges with their accounts, and a few transactions were unsuccessful,” he said.

“Our experts worked tirelessly day and night, and as of yesterday (Thursday), the affected accounts were restored. In addition, customers whose transactions had failed were refunded, and services have since continued to run smoothly,” he added.

He further explained that the significant investment in the new system was intended to meet both current and future customer needs.

Mr Nsekela also emphasised that despite the transition, the bank had continued to perform strongly, underscoring the confidence customers place in the institution.

He took the opportunity to thank staff for their commitment during the changeover and urged them to maintain professionalism in service delivery to ensure that the new system achieves its objectives.
