Dar es Salaam. The embassy of the Palestine state in Tanzania has issued a statement condemning the ongoing conflict in Gaza and calling upon the international community to act against the ongoing terror events.

In the statement, the embassy urged the international community to act on their collective political, legal, humanitarian, and moral responsibilities to call out the ongoing war.

"It (the community) has a responsibility to promote accountability, which is the only viable remedy for this illegal, abhorrent situation.

The Palestinian people will continue to defend themselves, their homes, and their fundamental right to live in freedom and dignity, free from occupation, apartheid, and persecution," the statement reads.

The statement comes as the conflict between Palestine and Israel has entered its third day, with over 510 people killed in Gaza and 800 more killed in Israel so far, according to international media Al Jazeera.

The Palestinian embassy's statement adds, "The facts are not in dispute. Israel, as an occupying power, is fully responsible for this situation because it insists on keeping the Palestinian people captive and stripping them of their rights for over half a century."

The Tanzanian government also commented on the conflict on Sunday, October 8, 2023, through the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. January Makamba, who reiterated Tanzania's call for peace resolutions.

"We condemn all forms of violence. Violence has never been successful as an instrument of dispute settlement. We call for restraint to stem the further loss of human life," he stated.
