Dar es Salaam. The Police Force has escalated its investigation into the abduction and killing of Chadema leader Ally Mohamed Kibao by enlisting experts from the Director of Criminal Investigation's (DCI) office.

Kibao's body was discovered on September 8, 2024, in the Ununio Tegeta area of Dar es Salaam.

It was then transferred to Mwananyamala Regional Referral Hospital for preservation, identification, and an autopsy, with results expected to be released today, September 9, 2024.

Kibao was reported missing after being abducted on the evening of September 6, 2024, from a bus operated by Tashrif, which was en route from Dar es Salaam to Tanga. Eyewitnesses claim that unidentified individuals forcibly removed him from the bus, handcuffed him and took him away.

Chadema leader Ally Mohamed Kibao's body was discovered on September 8, 2024, in the Ununio Tegeta area of Dar es Salaam.

In a public statement released on August 8, 2024, Police Force spokesperson David Misime announced that a specialized team from the DCI headquarters has been deployed to support the initial investigation.

The statement urges the public to provide any reliable information that could aid in resolving this case.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, joining political parties and human rights groups in mourning Kibao's death.

On her X (formerly Twitter) account, President Hassan extended her condolences to Chadema, Kibao’s family, and his friends.

She has instructed investigative authorities to deliver a comprehensive report on the case and similar incidents promptly.

The President emphasized Tanzania’s commitment to democratic principles and affirmed that her government will not tolerate such acts of violence.

Her statement follows expressions of sympathy from the ruling CCM, ACT-Wazalendo, and the Legal Human Rights Centre (LHRC), all of which have called for a thorough investigation into the tragic death of Kibao.

Kibao will be laid to rest today (Monday) in Tanga.
