Dar es Salaam. A nominated Member of Parliament (MP) and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mbarouk Nassor Mbarouk, has resigned from his position as a lawmaker.

The Parliament confirmed on Sunday, July 21, 2024 that Ambassador Mbarouk has resigned from the position of a lawmaker on the grounds that he needed time to deal with some social challenges that he was currently facing.

He has written to the Speaker of Parliament, Dr Tulia Ackson, informing her about his decision.

"I am compelled to make the decision to resign in order to have the opportunity to address these challenges," Ambassador Mbarouk said in his resignation letter.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan nominated Ambassador Mbarouk as an MP on March 31, 2021, just 12 days after she ascended to the presidency, following the death in office of her predecessor, John Magufuli.

Nominated along with Ambassador Mabrouk were Dr Bashiru Ally and Ambassador Liberata Mulamula.

While Ambassador Mulamula was later named the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mabrouk was named the Deputy Minister in the same docket.
He occupied that position until his resignation on Sunday, July 21, 2024.

Prior to being nominated as an MP, Ambassador Mabrouk held various positions, including working as Tanzania's Ambassador in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates from where he was also accredited to Pakistan, Iran and Bahraine.
