  • The second application window is now open from September 3, 2024, up to September 21, 2024, and students are encouraged to apply before the deadline.

Dodoma. The Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) has announced the opening of the second application window for students seeking admission into bachelor’s degree programmes for the 2024/2025 academic year.

Speaking to journalists yesterday in Dodoma, the Executive Secretary of TCU, Professor Charles Kihampa, said that the second application window provides a new opportunity for prospective students who missed the initial application period to apply for admission into various universities and colleges.

According to Professor Kihampa, the second application window is now open from September 3, 2024, up to September 21, 2024, and students are encouraged to apply before the deadline.

The commission has emphasised the importance of timely applications, urging all eligible candidates to submit their applications as soon as possible to secure a chance in their desired programs.

Professor Kihampa also spoke about the increase in chances compared to the last academic year of 2023/2024.

"There are 12,697 more admission chances available for the undergraduate program this academic year compared to the previous year," he said, noting that this represents an increase of 6.8 percent in the undergraduate program.

He further stated that the number of admissions for the undergraduate program for the 2024/2025 academic year is 198,986, compared to 186,289 for the previous academic year.

Professor Kihampa also mentioned that there is an increase in the number of study programs from 809 in the 2023/2024 academic year to 856 programs in the 2024/2025 academic year, representing an increase of 47 programs, or 5.8 percent.

He added that during the first application window for admission into bachelor's degree programs at higher education institutions for the 2024/2025 academic year, there were 124,286 applicants who submitted applications to join 86 colleges approved by TCU to admit students for first-degree programs.

Professor Kihampa stated that in the first application window, 98,890 applicants, or 79.6 percent, were admitted to the colleges they applied for, and the number of applicants is expected to increase in the second application window.

He also mentioned that applicants admitted to more than one college should confirm their admission to one of the colleges between September 3, 2024, and September 21, 2024.

Professor Kihampa has said confirmation is done by using a unique code sent via text message to the phone numbers or email addresses provided during the application process.

“The TCU encourages those who could not apply for admission or were not admitted in the first application window for various reasons to submit their applications during the second application window,” said Professor Kihampa.
