Three dead as suv collides with bus in Kilimanjaro

Moshi. Three individuals lost their lives in a devastating head-on collision between an SUV and a passenger bus on Saturday, February 1, 2025, in the Mdawi area of Moshi District, Kilimanjaro Region. 

The Kilimanjaro Region Fire and Rescue Brigade’s acting commander, Mr Jeremiah Mkomagi, confirmed the incident, saying that the accident occurred when the driver of a Toyota RAV4 SUV attempted to overtake other vehicles in a reckless manner, leading to a fatal collision with the Esther Luxury Coach bus. 

The bus was en route from Moshi to Dar es Salaam at the time of the accident. 

“The crash happened this morning in the Mdawi area. Three occupants of the Toyota RAV4 were killed instantly following the head-on collision with the Esther Luxury Coach bus,” Commander Mkomagi explained.

He further confirmed that no injuries were reported among the bus passengers. The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mawenzi Regional Referral Hospital for identification and preservation.
