Top golfers to feature in Vodacom Tanzania Open

Dar es Salaam. Prominent golfers from seven countries will compete in the Vodacom Tanzania Open tournament scheduled to tee off November 21 to 24 at the Kili Golf course in Arusha.

This was revealed by the Chairman of the Tanzania Golf Union (TGU), Gilman Kasiga, during the official announcement of Vodacom Tanzania as the main sponsor of the event. Kasiga named the participating countries, which include Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, South Africa, and the host country, Tanzania. He said that preparations for the tournament are progressing well, and the players are undergoing intensive training. Kasiga mentioned prominent Tanzanian players such as Isihaka Daudi, Ali Mcharo, and the minister for Culture, Arts, and Sports, Damas Ndumbaro, as part of the lineup.

Also competing will be top players from Kenya, including John Kibet, Carl Wambasi Makokha, and Ndegwa Nderitu, along with Paul Chidale, Hussein Bagalana (Malawi), Hussein Bagalana (Uganda), Tongoona Charamba (Zimbabwe), and many others. Additionally, star female players like Vicky Elias, Maryanne Mugo, and others will participate. He noted that the tournament will contribute points to the World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR). “We are thrilled to have Vodacom as our title sponsor. This partnership not only elevates the tournament’s status but also underscores Vodacom’s commitment to foster sports and healthy lifestyles in Tanzania. Their support is invaluable in helping us develop local talent and build a vibrant golf community,” he said.

Vodacom Tanzania’s Director of Business, Nguvu Kamando, stated that the company decided to sponsor the tournament with the aim of promoting sports in the country. “Vodacom is proud to partner with TGU as the main sponsor of the ‘Vodacom Tanzania Open 2024,’” said Kamando. He added that the event will showcase Tanzania’s beauty and inspire future generations of golfers. This year’s Tanzania Open tournament will offer an exciting lineup, from competitive matches to networking opportunities for partners and golf enthusiasts. With Vodacom’s partnership, the event is poised to become a milestone in Tanzanian sports, fostering a deeper connection between the business community and the athletic landscape.

Other partners in this tournament include NMB Bank, Serengeti Breweries Ltd, Karibu Camps & Lodges, Revolution Events, Karimjee Mobility, and Pepsi. Organizers are also welcoming additional sponsorships.
