Dar es Salaam. Online ticketing service providers who fail to integrate their systems with the government’s platforms risk being banned from operating from July 1, 2025, the Land Transport Regulatory Authority (Latra) has announced.
In a statement issued yesterday, Latra said that all ticketing systems must be connected to the Latra Travel Ticketing System and the Tanzania Revenue Authority’s Electronic Fiscal Device Management System (EFDMS) by the deadline.
Those who fail to comply will be prohibited from offering services.
“To date, only 15 service providers have completed registration and integrated their systems with the government platforms,” said Latra’s Head of Public Relations and Communications, Mr Salum Pazzy.
“On July 1, we will publish a list of authorised service providers. This list will be shared with transport operators, and only those recognised companies will be permitted to provide online ticketing services,” he said.
Mr Pazzy said the move is part of wider reforms aimed at enhancing the management of the land transport sector, improving transparency in revenue collection, and ensuring passengers receive quality services in line with national laws and regulations.
He noted that transport operators may use their own online ticketing systems provided they comply with regulations or alternatively partner with Latra-approved service providers certified under the Online Ticketing Regulations.
Mr Pazzy also said Latra, in collaboration with the Police Force’s Road Safety Division, will continue countrywide inspections of passenger buses.
The inspections will check for valid transport licences, seat belt compliance, proper labelling of luggage, and the mandatory use of online tickets.
The currently registered and compliant online ticketing providers include Logix Company Ltd, Itule Company Ltd, Busbora Company Ltd, Duarani Innovate Ltd, Web Corporation Tanzania Ltd, Hashtech Tanzania Ltd, Otapp Agency Company Ltd, Sepa Tech Ltd, Iyishe Company Ltd (Adventure Connection), Global Light and Company Ltd, Mkombozi Infotech Company Ltd, Meerkatz (Kidia One), Abood Bus Services, Borita Company Ltd, and Exabytes Africa Ltd.
