What you need to know:

  • Azam FC are prepared to approve Dube's departure provided it aligns with the stipulations outlined in the contract.

Dar es Salaam. Azam Football Club have stood  firm that Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube still remains an integral part of their team, despite his expressed desire to leave.

The club's information officer, Thabit "Zaka Zakazi" Zacharia, confirmed this stance during an interview with The Citizen.

Zacharia said he has seen and read social media posts attributed to Dube, expressing gratitude to the club for his time.

However, he said that such sentiments contradict the contractual agreement between Dube and Azam FC.

According to Zacharia, the club remain committed to honouring the terms of the contract signed between the club and the player.

Addressing the situation, Zacharia stressed the importance of adhering to contractual obligations and urged Dube to engage with the club through proper channels.

He explained that Azam FC are prepared to approve Dube's departure provided it aligns with the stipulations outlined in the contract.

Zacharia said the club is committed to upholding the regulations governing football in the country while reiterating that Azam FC will not engage in any actions that bypass those regulations.

“What is going on is contrary to the regulations, we have our procedures that must be followed. Dube himself knows that and has to state that as is the one who requested to terminate the contract,” he said.

Reports say that Dube has already vacated the club premises following the saga.

Dube's request to terminate his contract with Azam FC cites unavoidable reasons, signalling his desire to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

The Zimbabwean striker joined the team in 2020 and his contract is set to expire in 2026, leaving him with two and a half years to remain at the club.

While Dube's destination remains undisclosed, the impending opening of the transfer window suggests that clarity may emerge in due course.

Until then, Azam FC remain resolute in their position, prioritizing adherence to contractual obligations while remaining open to a resolution that aligns with the interests of both parties involved.
