Kitulo national park to host next Tanzania-India friendship marathon

The next Tanzania-India Friendship Marathon will take runners on a captivating journey through the enchanting Kitulo National Park, nestled between Mbeya and Njombe.

Culture, Arts and Sports Minister Dr. Damas Ndumbaro announced this exciting relocation after the successful Dar es Salaam edition. He explained, "We want to offer runners a unique experience, combining athletic challenge with the wonders of Kitulo."

Dr Ndumbaro praised the leadership of Indian veteran athlete Milind Soman, whose 120km Dar es Salaam-Bagamoyo-Dar es Salaam feat inspired this year's event. He also emphasized the marathon's potential to attract international tourists to Tanzania's diverse landscapes.

"Kitulo's vibrant 'Garden of Flowers' and its gentle wildlife offer a magical backdrop for the race," the Minister enthused. "We aim to host this sustainable event in the first week of July next year, attracting runners from around the world."

India's High Commissioner to Tanzania, Binaya Pradhan, expressed gratitude for the partnership between the two nations. "This marathon is a testament to our close bond, and we envision it as an annual tradition," he stated.

He envisioned next year's edition attracting even more participants, eager to explore Tanzania's beauty, including the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. "We look forward to another successful year, fostering friendship and showcasing the wonders of both India and Tanzania," declared Pradhan.
