President Samia boosts national teams with Sh500 million
Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has personally donated Sh500 million to support their preparations for upcoming international competitions.
This generous contribution underlines the government's commitment to promoting sports development and empowering athletes to excel on the global stage.
"Sports don't just inspire pride, they also incur expenses," President Samia declared. "While our teams are making remarkable progress, they sometimes face budgetary constraints that could hinder their success. My government is dedicated to elevating sports development, and this contribution is a testament to that commitment."
Recognising the vital role public support plays in sports, President Samia appealed to fellow Tanzanians to rally behind the national teams.
"Let's all contribute and create an enabling environment for our athletes to proudly represent Tanzania on the international stage," she urged.
"To kickstart this national effort, I am personally donating Sh500 million."
This timely initiative, spearheaded by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, aims to raise a total of Sh20 billion. The substantial fund will be used to support national teams across various sports disciplines, ensuring they have the necessary resources to train, compete, and bring glory to Tanzania.
President Samia's call to action and her own substantial contribution serve as a clarion call for national unity and commitment to sports excellence. By joining hands, the government and the people of Tanzania can create a brighter future for sporting talent and ensure that the nation's athletes stand tall on the global stage.
