Young Africans former head coach Ramovic breaks silence on why he exited the football club

Former Young Africans SC head coach Sead Ramovic has shared his side of the story regarding his abrupt departure from the Tanzanian giants.

Ramovic resigned from Yanga, having joined the club in November 2024 after leaving his position at the Betway Premiership side TS Galaxy. The German-born mentor spent two months with Yanga and performed reasonably well.

In the league, Ramovic oversaw six matches for Young Africans, securing maximum points in all of them. However, his team was eliminated from the CAF Champions League group stages a few weeks ago.

So far in the Tanzanian Premier League, Yanga sit at the top of the log with 45 points after 17 matches. They are one point ahead of second-placed Simba SC, who are managed by South African coach Fadlu Davids.

Ramovic sparked controversy after leaving Young Africans for Algerian side CR Belouizdad. The tactician joined Belouizdad shortly after tendering his resignation at the Tanzanian giants.

Following his departure, FARPost gathered information suggesting that the 45-year-old was frequently in conflict with senior players, including Stephane Aziz Ki and Clatous Chama.

Ramovic stepped down from his position at Yanga just an hour before the final training session ahead of a crucial league match against KenGold on Wednesday afternoon.

Now, Ramovic is quoted by FARPost that that his decision to leave Yanga, was informed by a decision to challenge himself in a more competitive league.

“As a coach, you live for moments like this. The decision to leave Yanga was not easy, but the best opportunity came, and moving to CR Belouizdad was one I could not turn down. The league in Algeria offers week-in, week-out competition against high-quality opposition, and this is what I wanted for myself as a coach,” FARPost reports, quoting what the tactician said on Metro FM.

“Young Africans is the best club in Tanzania; there are really only about three teams that compete for the league title in Tanzania, namely Young Africans, Simba SC, and Azam FC.

“My move to CR Belouizdad was about challenging myself as a coach and striving for improvement. It had nothing to do with money or alleged disputes with players.

“I made the decision for myself to be at one of the best teams in Africa, but I knew baseless rumours would arise about why I left Yanga. However, I do not care.”
