Simba-Yanga encounter fetches Sh410.6 million

Dar es Salaam. The NBC Premier League encounter that pitted traditional rivals, Simba and Young Africans (Yanga) last Sunday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam fetched Sh410, 645,000, the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has announced.

The amount has exceeded that collected in their previous match played on October 23 at the same venue, where Sh396, 165,000 was collected. The recent sum means Sh14,480,000 was more collected.

The encounter, which saw Simba recording a 2-0 victory over their bitter rivals, was attended by 53, 569 spectators who bought tickets, according to TFF Information officer Clifford Ndimbo. Ndimbo said VIP saw 340 football fans paying an entrance fee of Sh30, 000 each and a total of Sh10, 200,000 was collected while VIP B’s fans numbering 4,160 paid an entrance fee of Sh20,000 each and a total of Sh83, 200,000 was collected.

According to Ndimbo, each of 2,004 football fans, who sat on orange seats paid an entrance fee of Sh15,000 and a total of Sh30,060,000 was collected while 10,372 fans each paid an entrance fee of Sh10,000 and a total of Sh103,720,000 was obtained. He said green and blue seats saw 36,693 fans each paying Sh5,000 to collect Sh183,465,000.

He said the hosts team, Simba, were given a total of Sh188, 987,181.10 while Yanga who were the guests did not get a single cent as per TFF’s rules and regulations.

The money distribution also saw Sh62, 640,762.71 being paid as Value Added Tax (VAT) while Sh10, 440, 127.12 was given to the National Sports Council (NSC) and Sh22, 585,475 was deducted as match tickets costs.

Other deductions were Sh47,246,795.28 for the Benjamini Mkapa Stadium and Sh22,048,504.46 as the match expenses while TFF and the Tanzania Premier League Board received Sh12,599,145.41 and Sh25,198, 290.81 respectively and the Dar es Salaam Regional Football Association (DRFA) got Sh18,898,718.11.
