Dar es Salaam. For netball enthusiasts, Mwanza is the place to find the thrill as more than 15 teams compete in the national championships scheduled to start tomorrow at the CCM Kirumba court.

The National Club Championship, which has been organised by the Tanzania Amateur Netball Association (Chaneta), is expected to reach its climax on September 15.

Even though netball giants JKT Stars, Jeshi Stars and Uhamiaji are expected to dominate the tournament, Magereza Dar es Salaam is the team to watch this year due to the preparation they made ahead of the tournament.

The team’s head coach, Winfrida Emmanuel, said the team is expected to leave the city by air to Mwanza to tough it out with the best teams in the league. Winfrida added that they would field experienced players who will be ready to give their best in the competition.

“We need to do our best in the tournament. We’re aware that many teams are also targeting silverware which is held by JKT Mbweni who took the crown from Uhamiaji. I’m very proud to be the most experienced coach in the league and I’m sure I’ll take the team to the top,” said Winfrida.

Winfrida coached Uhamiaji for several years and brought success to the team.

“We are proud of the support we’re getting from our leaders, including enabling the team to travel by plane to Mwanza. The move has increased the players’ morale and they are ready to show their prowess in the tournament,” she said.
