Chama, Aziz Ki, to join Yanga camp today for new season

Dar es Salaam. Mainland Tanzania champions, Young Africans (Yanga), start preparations today ahead of the new league season.

Among the players expected to report to the camp are new signings, including former Simba attacking midfielder Clatous Chama and Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube, who played for Azam FC last season.

Also on the list are Shadrack Boka, who played for FC Lupopo of DR Congo last season, Jonathan Sowah from Medeama FC of Ghana, and Jean Baleke, who also played for Simba last season.

Yanga are also looking to sign more new players, such as Phillipe Kinzumbi of TP Mazembe, who is still facing a contract wrangle with his club.

Additionally, Agee Basiala, who plays for Union Maniema of DR Congo, is on the list, as well as Tanzanian goalkeeper Khomein Abubakar, who played for Fountain Gate FC.

Apart from the new signings, some notable players expected to report to the team’s camp today are Stephane Aziz Ki, Pacome Zouzoua, Djigui Diarra, Maxi Nzengeli, Mudathir Yahya, Dickson Job, Kouassi Yao Attoulla, Ibrahim Bacca, Clement Mzize, Kennedy Musonda, Khalid Aucho, and many others.

According to a source within the club, all players were ordered to report to the camp by today ahead of the next season.

“Team head coach Miguel Gamondi is already in the country, ready to start the new season. So all players are required to report to the camp, and after medical checkups, they will undergo training,” said the source.

The Jangwani Street giants are expected to feature in South Africa’s special tournament known as the Mpumalanga Premier Cup, which is scheduled to take place from July 20 to 27 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The team may face Bundesliga side Augsburg. Also in the competition are Eswatini champions Mbabane Swallows and South African Premier League side TS Galaxy.

The tournament will take place at the Mbombela Stadium, situated just outside Nelspruit.

The organizer of the competition, Tim Sukazi, was quoted by various media in South Africa as confirming that Augsburg, Mbabane Swallows, Yanga, and other teams will feature in the tournament.

Augsburg will be making history by holding their first-ever summer training camp outside Europe. They will be in South Africa from July 18 to 28.
