  • So far, the Jangwani Street giants have signed to recruit former Simba attacking midfielder Clatous Chama for the next season and former Azam FC striker Prince Dube.

Dar es Salaam. As the Young Africans (Yanga) players commence their residential camp on July 7, the players from Simba and Azam FC are set to begin their camps today in preparation for the upcoming Mainland Tanzania League season and intercontinental club championships.

This means that Yanga’s prominent players, such as Stephane Aziz Ki, Pacome Zouzoua, Djigui Diarra, Maxi Nzengeli, Mudathir Yahya, Dickson Job, Kouassi Yao Attoulla, Ibrahim Bacca, Clement Mzize, Kennedy Musonda, Khalid Aucho and many others, will report to the camp.

So far, the Jangwani Street giants have signed to recruit former Simba attacking midfielder Clatous Chama for the next season and former Azam FC striker Prince Dube.

On the list is also Coastal Union, which will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup as well as in the East and Central Africa Club Championships (Kagame Cup), scheduled to start on July 10 in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar.

However, all eyes are on the Mainland Tanzania Premier League and CRDB Federation Cup, which will announce players who will not be part of the team in the next season and new players that will be in its squad for the next season, respectively.

According to a source within the club, they delayed announcing players who would not be part of their squad for next season as they were negotiating with them.

“You need to meet with the players and later negotiate with them. As you know, there are players that still have valid contracts and you need to negotiate with them before making an announcement. We need to have a mutual agreement with them,” said the source.

He said that the exercise will go parallel to announcing new players who have so far signed contracts with the club.

The report also said that Yanga has extended his contract with Ivorian attacking midfielder Zouzoua, who had previously had a two-year contract.

Simba players will report to the camp today and after medical check-ups and a trip to Ismailia in Egypt.

Speaking earlier, Simba’s Media and Information Manager Ahmed Ally said all players have been informed, and some are in Dar es Salaam ahead of the camp.

“All the players remaining in the team and new recruits are supposed to report and get ready for medical check-ups and travel preparations. “Even members of the technical bench staff will be in Dar es Salaam before the end of this week, ready for the trip,” said Ally.

Simba are said to have recruited a number of players ahead of the next league season. Some of the players are Zambian Joshua Mutale from Power Dynamos of Zambia, Congolese Debora Fernades from Mutondo Stars of Zambia, and Ugandan Steven Mukwala, who played for Ghana’s Asante Kotoko last season.

There are also DR Congo’s attacking midfielder Elie Mpanzu Kibisawala from AS Vita and Nigerian midfielder Augustine Okejepha, who played for Rivers United of Nigeria.
