Coastal Union eliminated from CAF Confederation Cup

  • This was the second time Coastal had featured in CAF competitions, having first competed in 1989 in the Cup Winners' Cup, which was later merged with the CAF Cup to become the current competition.

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Mainland has suffered another blow after its another envoy in the CAF Confederation Cup, Coastal Union, was eliminated from the tournament.

The Tanga based team, recorded a goalless draw against Angola’s Bravos at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam to mark their end of the road.

In the first leg held in Angola, Coastal Union lost 3-0. The team join other three teams, Azam FC, JKU, and Uhamiaji who have already exited from the competition.

In the match, Coastal missed an early penalty after Kenyan player John Mark Makwata failed to convert his spot-kick into the net, following a handed ball by a Bravo defender while attempting to clear the ball.

The team had earned the chance to compete in these competitions after finishing fourth last season in the Tanzania Mainland League.
