Dar es Salaam. Isiaka Dunia of Lugalo Golf Club has been named Tanzania's top amateur golfer for 2024, cementing his dominance on the greens with an impressive 123 points.

The Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) confirmed Dunia’s status in a statement highlighting his remarkable performance across multiple tournaments.

His journey to the top began with a solid 20 points in the Northern Zone event. He followed this with 14 points at the Morogoro Open and 15 points at the Arusha Open. His consistency shone through as he added another 15 points during the Lugalo Open.

He further strengthened his lead by collecting 18 points each from the CDF Trophy and Moshi Open tournaments. Dunia sealed his triumph with another stellar performance, earning 20 points at the prestigious Tanzania Open.

Trailing Dunia in second place is Ally Isanzu of TPC Club in Moshi, who amassed a total of 82 points.

Enosh Wanyeche, also from Lugalo, secured third place with 69 points, while fellow Lugalo golfer Michael Massawe was placed fourth with 53 points. TGU Chairman Gilman Kasiga applauded all participants for their efforts throughout the year, emphasising the importance of stakeholder support in developing the sport.

“We thank the golfers, sponsors, and all stakeholders for their immense contributions over the past year. Thanks to their support, we successfully implemented our annual calendar.

“As we prepare this year’s calendar of events, we urge them to continue supporting us, and we invite new stakeholders to join our efforts,” said Kasiga. Dunia’s success underscores the competitive spirit and growing standards on Tanzania’s golf scene.

His achievements serve as an inspiration for upcoming golfers, while his consistency highlights the importance of perseverance and skill in excelling in the sport. With preparations underway for the 2025 golf calendar, TGU is optimistic about further growth and more thrilling tournaments.
