Dar es Salaam: The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the dates for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) finals, which will be hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.

According to CAF President Patrice Motsepe, the tournament is scheduled to take place from February 1 to 28 next year.

Motsepe mentioned that the three host countries are currently preparing for the finals, which feature players from local leagues in each country. He also noted that the first round of qualifiers will be played during the weekend of October 25 to 27 this year.

CAF will announce the stadiums and other venues for the competition at a later date. Last Sunday, Motsepe visited some of the venues in Kenya that are being prepared for CHAN.

While acknowledging the progress and the commitment of the Kenyan government, Motsepe emphasized the need for everyone to work swiftly to ensure that all venues and facilities are ready in time for the competition.

"Kenya is a football-loving country, and I would like to thank all the members of the executive committee. I am grateful to President William Ruto for his efforts," he said. "I am confident that next year’s CHAN finals in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will be the best we’ve ever had."

Motsepe also expressed his strong belief that the 2024 CHAN finals will significantly benefit players. Additionally, he praised the efforts of Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in ensuring that their countries meet the requirements to host both CHAN and the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
