Dar es Salaam. The highly anticipated Rotary Goat Races are back for their 21st edition, set to take place on September 20, 2025, at The Green grounds in Oysterbay, Dar es Salaam.

Running from 12 noon to 8 p.m., the event promises a day of family-friendly entertainment, laughter, and community togetherness—all in support of a meaningful cause.

Now a staple on Dar’s social calendar, the Rotary Goat Races have become one of the city’s most cherished fundraising events. Known for their quirky charm and vibrant atmosphere, the races bring together families, corporate sponsors, and individuals in support of local charitable causes, with a strong focus on education.

Returning as title sponsor for the third consecutive year, Vodacom Tanzania PLC has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming education for underserved communities.

The telecoms giant has partnered once again with the Rotary Club of Dar es Salaam Oyster Bay, the event organizers, to drive impact through collective action.

Speaking at the official event launch, Vodacom’s Head of Media Relations, Annette Kanora, said the company is proud to continue its partnership, contributing Sh50 million to this year’s edition.

“Leading with purpose, we remain committed to empowering communities through meaningful partnerships. Our support for the Goat Races has already improved school infrastructure and awarded scholarships to over 130 underprivileged students,” said Kanora.

She added that Vodacom aims to further enhance learning environments and WASH facilities this year. “We invite other organizations to join us in making an even greater impact.”

Kanora also highlighted that Vodacom’s continued sponsorship reflects the tangible community benefits from past events and the Rotary Club’s consistent success in organizing impactful charity initiatives. “We’re proud to support the Goat Races again and encourage all stakeholders to attend and contribute to the cause,” she emphasized.

Unveiling this year’s event theme—“Wild Wild Dar”—Rotary Club President for 2025/26, Philippe Demoulin, said the theme promises a day full of fun, energy, and unity.

“Our goal is to do what Rotary does best—bring people together and serve the community. We invite everyone to come out, enjoy themselves, and support a worthy cause,” Demoulin said.

Project Manager Paul Muhato echoed the sentiment, expressing gratitude to Vodacom and all returning sponsors whose support continues to make a lasting difference in education and community welfare.
