The encounter will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam to celebrate Yanga’s Mwananchi Day and the 88th anniversary of the oldest football club in the country.
Yanga president Hersi Said revealed that the day will also be used to introduce their newly signed players for the next Mainland Tanzania Premier League season, Azam Federation Cup and African Champions League.
He said all preparations are complete and the club members and fans will also be able to know their new technical bench staff under Argentinian tactician Miguel Gamondi. “Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed to feature in the match as well as in other activities organized by the club. As you know, we have many activities ahead of the Mwananchi Day and our guest team will experience it,” he said.
Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has said their upcoming friendly matches against Yanga and Botswana’s Township Rollers will be the good test of their new players ahead of the next league season. Chiefs start their African Tour with the Yanga encounter to kick off at 7pm.
Ntseki said he is expecting a tough test against Yanga, one of the most successful clubs in Tanzania. Yanga have won six trophies in the last two seasons, thwarting the dominance of bitter rivals Simba SC.
They will be eager to test their mettle against the South African giants ahead of the 2023/24 season.
