Speaking during the award ceremony, General Waitara congratulated the winners and sponsors while encouraging greater community participation in the sport, challenging the perception that golf is exclusively for the wealthy.
"I urge sponsors of various sporting events, including this tournament, to look for ways to broaden their support beyond the competitions themselves. They should consider improving golf course facilities, particularly irrigation systems, to ensure quality is maintained even during dry spells," said Waitara.
For his part, NBC Bank representative Aliko Mwamsaku, who is also the Muhimbili branch manager, expressed the bank’s motivation for participating in the tournament.
Mwamsaku emphasized the bank's aim to support and advance the sports sector in Tanzania, which includes identifying new talent, creating employment opportunities through sports, and harnessing the sector to promote domestic tourism.
“At NBC, we view golf as a strategic sport that facilitates relationship-building among our clients through recreational activities, ultimately translating these relationships into both personal and institutional business opportunities. Golf offers a platform for diverse groups within the community to connect, regardless of age, gender, or socioeconomic status," said Mwamsaku.
