Dar es Salaam. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has provided financial support, including air tickets and allowances, to the Tanzania national golf team for their participation in the All Africa Challenge Trophy.

The prestigious tournament is set to take place from November 28 to 30 at the Tazegzout Golf Course in Agadir, Morocco.

The Tazegzout Golf Course, famous for its challenging layout and stunning scenery, will host golfers from across Africa, making it a critical stage for Tanzania's representatives.

This announcement was made by National Sports Council (NSC) Officer Charles Maguzu during a flag presentation ceremony held at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club yesterday.

Maguzu praised the national women’s golf team for their exceptional performances, which have not only brought pride to Tanzania but also earned the attention and support of the President.

“You have been performing exceptionally well, inspiring all Tanzanians who are proud of you. We believe you will excel in Morocco and bring honoUr to the country,” Maguzu stated during the ceremony.

He reassured the team that the entire nation is behind them, providing moral support as they prepare for this highly competitive event.

“The government remains committed to sports development, which is why it supports teams and individual athletes who consistently excel. I urge you to do your best in Morocco,” Maguzu added.

The national team comprises three outstanding golfers: Madina Iddi, Neema Olomi, both from Arusha Gymkhana Golf Club, and Hawa Wanyeche from Lugalo Golf Club. Their selection comes as a result of remarkable performances in numerous local and regional tournaments.

The team is set to leave tomorrow aboard Qatar Airways. They will be accompanied by team manager Ayne Magombe and Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) Secretary-General Yasmini Chali, who also serves as the head of the delegation. TLGU President Queen Siraki expressed her gratitude to President Samia and the government for their steadfast support.

“We deeply thank President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her generosity. Her support has inspired us and the golfers to push harder. We promise to do our best at the tournament and will not let Tanzanians down,” said Siraki.

She also highlighted the intensive training undertaken by the golfers, which has prepared them to compete at the highest level.

In the previous edition of the All Africa Challenge Trophy, Tanzania’s team, which included Hawa Wanyeche, Madina Iddi, and Angel Eaton (now a professional golfer), posted an impressive final-round score of 153 gross, for a total of 455.

This year, the team is determined to surpass that performance and shine on the continental stage, further enhancing Tanzania’s reputation in the sport of golf.
