Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian swimmers are gearing up to compete in the prestigious World Aquatics Championships, set to make waves in Doha, Qatar, from February 2nd to 18th.

This high-profile event doubles as a crucial qualifier for the Paris Olympics, putting our athletes' skills to the test on the world stage.

Although the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA) hasn't yet revealed the names of the lucky swimmers and coaches, they've confirmed our participation with a strong four-member team, two men and two women, ready to dive in.

"We're excited to send our best to Doha," shared TSA Secretary-General Inviolata Itatiro.

"While the official announcement of the team is still pending internal approval, rest assured, we have a rigorous selection process to choose the athletes who will represent Tanzania with pride."

This edition of the World Aquatics Championships marks a historic first for the Middle East, with Doha taking the reins after previously hosting the 25m version in 2014 and nine legs of the World Cup series.

However, the timing, just five months before the Paris Olympics, has sparked some debate among athletes and federations.

Nevertheless, Tanzania's participation signifies a pivotal moment for our aquatic athletes.

It's an opportunity to showcase their dedication, talent, and potential on a global platform, paving the way for future success in international waters.
