Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s top lady golfer, Vicky Elias, is set to compete in the prestigious Kenya Ladies Open tournament, scheduled to take place at the Ruiru Club course from April 4 to 6.
Vicky, a standout player from Lugalo Golf Club, joins Arusha Gymkhana’s top golfer, Madina Idd, who had earlier confirmed her participation in the tournament. Their inclusion marks a significant representation for Tanzania in the high-profile regional competition.
The two seasoned golfers have been rigorously preparing for the 54-hole event, which is expected to attract elite players from East Africa and beyond.
The competition promises to be intense, as some of the best female golfers in the region vie for top honors.
Speaking to The Citizen yesterday, Vicky expressed her determination to perform well despite the strong competition anticipated from other participants.
“I have trained well ahead of the competition. I know the challenges will be tough, but I am determined to give my best performance,” she said.
Vicky stressed the importance of adapting to the tournament course and revealed her plans to travel to Kenya two days before the event. She believes that familiarizing herself with the playing conditions will enhance her chances of success.
“I want to experience the golf course before the tournament begins. This is part of my technical preparation, and I believe it will help me adjust my game accordingly,” she added.
The Kenya Ladies Open is one of the most anticipated golfing events in the region, providing a platform for female golfers to showcase their skills and compete at an elite level. It also serves as a great opportunity for Tanzanian players to test themselves against top competitors and gain valuable exposure on the international stage.
Madina Idd, who has previously competed in similar tournaments, will also be looking to make an impact. The participation of both Tanzanian golfers in such a prestigious event is a testament to the growing strength of women’s golf in the country.
