What you need to know:

  • The high-stakes final will take place tonight, June 29, 2025  at 8:15pm at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, where Yanga will face Singida Black Stars, a side eager to win its first-ever major silverware

Dar es Salaam. Tanzanian football giants Young Africans (Yanga SC) are on the brink of achieving a historic feat as they chase their fifth trophy of the season and a record-equaling fifth CRDB Federation Cup title.

The high-stakes final will take place tonight, June 29, 2025  at 8:15pm at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar, where Yanga will face Singida Black Stars, a side eager to win its first-ever major silverware.

Trophy-laden season for Yanga

Yanga's 2024/2025 season has been nothing short of remarkable. The Jangwani Street-based club has already secured four trophies across regional and domestic competitions.

Their silverware run began on July 28, 2024, when they claimed the Toyota Cup in South Africa after a dominant 4-0 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at the Toyota Stadium. That triumph set the tone for a year of excellence.

Community Shield dominance

Their second trophy followed shortly after on August 11, 2024, when Yanga dismantled Azam FC 4-1 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to win the Community Shield.

The victory not only marked their superiority in Tanzanian football but also displayed the attacking firepower and depth that have defined their season.

Muungano Cup glory in Zanzibar

On May 1, 2025, Yanga lifted their third title — the Muungano Cup — following a narrow 1-0 victory against JKU at the same New Amaan Complex that hosts tonight’s final.

Premier League title sealed in style

Then came their crowning moment in the domestic league. Just four days ago, Yanga sealed the Mainland Tanzania Premier League title with a 2-0 win over archrivals Simba SC.

That victory at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium not only clinched their 31st league title but reaffirmed their position as the country’s most dominant football force.

Federation Cup specialists

Now, Yanga are aiming to end their season with a fifth trophy — the CRDB Federation Cup, a competition they have grown to dominate.

Since the Cup’s return in the 2015/2016 season, Yanga have reached six finals, including five consecutive appearances from 2021 to 2025.

Out of their previous five finals, they have won three and lost just one, and they are currently on an unbeaten run of 21 consecutive Federation Cup matches, underlining their consistency in knockout competition.

Chasing a fifth title in the tournament

Yanga are already the most successful club in the tournament’s modern era, having won the title four times — in 2015/2016, 2021/2022, 2022/2023, and 2023/2024.

A win tonight will not only extend their Federation Cup dominance but also mark five titles in a single season, a rare and historic achievement in Tanzanian football.

Singida Black Stars seek historic breakthrough

Their opponents, Singida Black Stars, arrive with high hopes and big ambitions.

Though they have yet to win a major trophy since their establishment, the team has shown steady improvement and now stand on the verge of history.

A win against Yanga tonight would mark a major breakthrough and deliver a huge boost to their growing stature in Tanzanian football.

Previous meetings favor Yanga

This will be the third meeting between the two sides this season and the second at the New Amaan Complex.

In their previous two league encounters, Yanga won both. The first, on October 30, 2024, ended 1-0 in favor of Yanga, courtesy of a goal by Pacome Zouzoua.

The second, played at the KMC Complex on February 17, 2025, ended 2-1, with goals from Clement Mzize and Prince Dube, while Jonathan Sowah scored for Singida.

A final of Legacy against Aspiration

For Yanga, tonight’s match is about defending their Federation Cup crown for the fourth consecutive time and cementing their status as the season’s undisputed champions.

For Singida Black Stars, it’s a golden opportunity to create their own chapter in Tanzanian football history.

The stakes are high, and the tension is rising as both teams prepare to battle under the lights of Zanzibar’s iconic stadium.

Season to remember

Whatever the outcome, the 2024/2025 season will go down as one of the finest in Yanga’s decorated history and potentially the moment Singida Black Stars rise from contenders to champions
